187,180 NEW HOMES WILL NEED TO BE BUILT ACROSS LEICESTERSHIRE BY 2050.

26th November 2018

A new government report identifies 187,180 new homes will need to be built in Leicestershire by 2050, 33,840 of them by 2031, as part of a drive to tackle the national housing shortage. Areas surrounding Lutterworth, Coalville, Hinckley, and Market Harborough have all been identified as areas for managed growth in local plans and Melton Mowbray identified as a key centre for regeneration and growth.

As strategic land agents it’s easy for Wells McFarlane to see why Leicestershire is playing such a key part in the government’s ambitious housing plans.

Trevor Wells, Director at Wells McFarlane cites “superb transport links served by major motorway networks coupled with direct rail links to the heart of London in little over an hour make Leicestershire an incredibly popular location for both businesses and home owners. These factors certainly contribute to predictions that the county’s population will increase by 11% over the next 14 years, making new housing an obvious priority.

“As Leicestershire based strategic land agents we’re expertly placed to help the government meet the county’s housing targets; by representing landowners and helping them to identify land in the right areas with potential for residential housing development.

“We represent landowners throughout the entire planning and consultancy process and would welcome enquiries from landowners looking to further their interests during this key time for housing growth”
