We always welcome the chance to nurture emerging talent, particularly when someone shows genuine initiative. So, when postgraduate Hugh Watson approached us with a well-researched application seeking a work placement to add practical experience to his CV and learn more about commercial agency, it caught our attention.
Hugh joined us last week and was mentored by our Director, Jason Hercock. He shared this feedback…
“I’ve had a great work placement with Wells McFarlane, shadowing Jason and the agency team. I’ve helped with drafting valuation reports and Heads of Terms, undertaken comparable property research, attended site viewings, learned about the requirement of a valuation inspection, measured up a property for a lease renewal, and flown the drone to take marketing photos.
“This has been a valuable experience, and I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to put the knowledge from my studies into practice. I’ve found that many of the processes are very similar to what I’ve been taught at university, which has been encouraging. All the Wells McFarlane team have been extremely helpful and informative, and I’m looking forward to pursuing a commercial property career when I complete my Master’s in September.”
Hugh now returns to Nottingham Trent University to continue studying for his Master’s degree in Real Estate, including completing his dissertation on the use of AI in real estate. Best of luck!
