TINA’S 100KM CHALLENGE

19 April 2021

Our residential and commercial asset manager, Tina Flynn has completed a monstrous charity challenge, running 100km throughout March in support of Breast Cancer Now. Here, she explains more about her experience, staying motivated and how it felt to reach the finish line…

“The challenge started after a conversation one Friday night; I’m not much of a runner so knew it would be tough but it would be a great way of staying active throughout lockdown. The aim was to run 100km (62 miles) over the course of the month, so at least 3.2km every day. The first couple of weeks went well, I built up strength running around my local villages and fields, and both my husband and my dog came along for support! After this is when it got tough, I’m not a natural runner! I found the first 2km of every run really difficult, especially on some of the cold, dark and rainy days. I managed to persevere though and my longest run was 10.29km – breaking it up into shorter and longer distances really helped.

“By the end of March, I’d completed 100.28km and doubled my initial target, raising £500 for the charity, which was such an incredible sense of achievement. Even though it’s been hard, and painful on my legs at times, I will keep it going just not to the same extent. I’m definitely having a rest first though!”
